This Privacy Policy explains how Motus (the “App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), provided by Sahil Patel, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the App. By using Motus, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
We collect only what the App needs to work. This falls into a few categories:
We do not collect your precise GPS location, your contacts, or your phone number.
Motus shows ads through Google AdMob to keep the App free. When you first open the App, iOS presents Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt asking for permission to track:
You can change this choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. The IDFA is the only identifier we use for tracking, and it is used solely by our advertising partner for advertising purposes. Your name, email, and health data are never used for tracking or advertising.
With your permission, Motus reads and writes body-weight and workout data to Apple Health. This data stays on your device and in your private iCloud. Health data is used only to power features inside the App. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with any third party, and it is never used for any purpose other than the health and fitness features you enable.
We rely on the following trusted providers. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Displaying ads | Advertising identifier (IDFA), device & usage data |
| Google Firebase Authentication | Accounts & sign-in | Email address, name |
| Google User Messaging Platform | Ad-consent management | Consent choices |
| Apple (App Store, iCloud, HealthKit, In-App Purchase, Sign in with Apple) | Sync, storage, sign-in, payments | Account identifiers, synced app data, purchase records |
See Google’s Privacy Policy and Apple’s Privacy Policy for details on how they handle data.
Motus offers an optional premium subscription. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple’s In-App Purchase system. We never receive or store your credit-card number or payment details — Apple handles the transaction and shares only confirmation that a purchase occurred.
Your workouts, programs, progress photos, and related data are stored on your device and synced through your own private Apple iCloud account (Apple CloudKit), so they stay available across your devices. This data lives in your private iCloud database; we do not have access to it. Account information (email and name) is stored by Firebase Authentication.
We do not send marketing emails, and we do not use remarketing or retargeting services to advertise our business to you.
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. App data stored in your iCloud remains until you delete it or remove it from iCloud. You can delete your account and associated account data at any time by contacting us at the email below; app data in your own iCloud can be removed by deleting the App and its iCloud data from your device settings.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (providing the App), your consent (advertising tracking, HealthKit access), and our legitimate interests (security and improving the App). You may withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money. However, sharing your advertising identifier (IDFA) with our advertising partner for personalized ads may be considered a “sale” or “share” under California law. You can opt out at any time by declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt or by turning off tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
In accordance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act, we note: this policy identifies the categories of information we collect and the third parties with whom it is shared; you may request changes to your information by contacting us; and we will notify users of material changes to this policy by updating the “Last updated” date above. Our App does not respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals, as it is a mobile app; instead, tracking is controlled through Apple’s ATT prompt described above.
Motus is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and the security of Apple iCloud and Google Firebase, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data using reasonable safeguards.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be communicated within the App. Your continued use of Motus after an update means you accept the revised policy.
